UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced is INTRACOM TELECOM's high-performance E-Band (71-76/ 81-86 GHz) radio ideal for the transport network needs of Mobile and Fixed network operators in the 5G-era. UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced offers up to 15 Gbit/s Full Duplex throughput in 1+0 radio link configuration, utilizing one unit and one single polarization antenna per link side, by employing an industry-leading 512QAM modulation in a 2000 MHz-wide channel.

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced inherits the highest system gain at high throughput from the field-proven UltraLink™-GX80 radio, achieving the longest multi-gigabit/s-capacity E-Band radio link ranges. Furthermore, it offers improved link availability under rain-induced fading events by supporting an additional higher robustness modulation and coding format.

When combined with INTRACOM TELECOM's or even third-party vendor microwave (MW) radios in L1-aggregation-based Dual Band configuration, it can offer extended-reach links with throughput up to 15Gbit/s.

UltraLink-GX80 Advanced benefits from a high-performance integrated Carrier Ethernet bridge supporting 3 x 1/10GbE optical and 2 x GbE electrical user interfaces. The multiple user-traffic interfaces and high frame-per-second (fps) processing power, provide the ability to aggregate multiple base station interfaces at cellular antenna locations, or form complex network configurations, without requiring a separate aggregation/switching device and without compromises on performance.

UltraLink-GX80 Advanced includes support for high accuracy frequency and packet-based synchronization protocols, such as Synchronous Ethernet and Precision Time Protocol IEEE 1588v2 TC and T-BC.

Highest Radio Capacity and Spectral Efficiency

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced is offering up to 15 Gbit/s Full Duplex throughput on a single 1+0 radio link achieved by an industry-high spectral efficiency, employing 512QAM modulation format in a 2000MHz-wide channel and Ethernet frame header suppression. A maximum modulation format of 512QAM is supported for channel sizes of 750, 1000, 1500 and 2000MHz, while a maximum modulation format of 1024QAM is supported for channel sizes of 125, 250 and 500MHz, providing highest E-Band spectral efficiency for all supported channel sizes. In this way operators can benefit from higher capacity for a particular channel size.

High System Gain & Advanced Range-Enhancement Schemes

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced is based on INTRACOM TELECOM's field-tested state-of-the art modem and RF transceiver technology capable of providing high transmit power and high receiver sensitivity. It inherits, from the field-proven UltraLink™-GX80, the highest system gain at 10Gbit/s currently in the E-Band market. For 10Gbps capacity @ 128QAM / 2000MHz the system gain exceeds 70dB, (not including antenna gain). Operation at 10Gbit/s has been demonstrated in the field for a link range exceeding 14Km.

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced also offers more enhanced link performance under rain-induced fading events by incorporating an additional, BPSK, modulation format. Its fast, up to 10-level, hitless adaptive modulation and coding can provide errorless system gain and capacity trade-off to enable highest capacity for most of the link operational time and more robust link operation under adverse propagation conditions.

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced can be combined with up to two OmniBAS™ microwave radios in Dual Band configuration, based on seamless Radio Link Aggregation (RLA) (L1-aggregation), to enable high link reach/availability, at 10kms and beyond, for multi-gigabit/s-throughput.

UltraLink-GX80 Advanced can also be combined in RLA-based Dual Band configuration with third party MW radios, offering the possibility of upgrading the throughput of existing MW links up to 15Gbit/s in the most cost-effective way.

Carrier Ethernet service delivery and x-Haul

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced incorporates a fully featured Ethernet Bridge, which supports 3 x 10 GbE (SFP/SFP+) and 2 x 1GbE (RJ45) concurrently operating interfaces for network connections. This offers flexibility in delivering standards-based Carrier Ethernet services over various network topologies, such as tree or ring, without the need of additional switching devices, thus enabling faster, easier, and more cost-effective deployments. Carrier Ethernet OAM features such as, Service OAM based on the IEEE 802.1ag and Y.1731 standards and Link OAM based on the IEEE 802.3ah standard, are also supported, enabling operators to provide manageable Carrier Ethernet end-to-end services to their customers.

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced is software upgradeable to offer IP/MPLS networking functionality additionally to L2 networking functionality.

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced supports the new generation fronthaul protocols that carry radio data over Ethernet, such as eCPRI. Support of eCPRI, which is the evolution of CPRI protocol for the 5G era, is offered according to IEEE 802.1CM profile A.

Consequently, UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced can be used in any part of a 5G RAN transport network to provide Backhaul, Midhaul or Fronthaul (X-Haul) services.

Comprehensive QoS

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced offers per-service flow QoS treatment of the transported traffic based on L1, L2 and L3 classifiers. User configurable Strict Priority (SP), Weighted Round Robin (WRR), Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) and Hybrid SP+WRR/WFQ scheduling schemes may be applied to eight Classes of Service (CoS) / queues to enable the most suitable prioritization treatment for different types of the user traffic. Color-aware Tail-drop or WRED can be applied as means to manage queue sizes and potential queue congestion. Ingress policing is applied to the incoming service flows, enforcing the conformance of services to desired characteristics. Traffic shaping can be applied at the egress on a per port, queue, and service flow level, allowing the more effective, fine-grained QoS treatment of traffic.

Support of Frequency and Phase Synchronization

UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced supports high accuracy packet-based frequency and phase/time synchronization methods. Its Ethernet interfaces support standards-based Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) frequency synchronization (Enhanced SyncE as evolution) including the associated ESMC signaling channel. Furthermore, Precision Timing Protocol (IEEE 1588-2008) Transparent Clock and Boundary Clock (T-BC) / (ITU-T 8275.1 profile) functionality is supported, the TC conforming to ITU-T G.8273.3 Class B (Class C as evolution) and the T-BC conforming to ITU-T G.8273.2 Class B (Class C as evolution) accuracy specification. Thus, the delivery of the required frequency and phase/time synchronization, deemed necessary in 5G Mobile networks, is safeguarded in case Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) signals are unavailable.

Integrated Radio Link Quality Monitoring & Diagnostics

The Radio Link Quality Monitoring (RLQM) tool functionality is embedded in the UltraLink™-GX80 Advanced radio element. It monitors the signal propagation conditions for the link and identifies possible propagation-related problems. It can discriminate between link degradation causes such as: rain, installation pole structural instability/vibration, radio interference, etc. It helps to diagnose the cause of a link quality problem without onsite support staff presence or additional measurement equipment. It improves network manageability and availability by expediting the detection and resolution of a problem. Thus, it increases the overall network quality and services availability and reduces the network operating costs and lost service revenues.

The Radio Link Quality Monitoring tool offers the following functionality:

The spectrum analyzer and frequency band auto-scanning features can further assist in a potential problem’s cause analysis as well as prove very useful at the link commissioning phase for the identification of interference from other active links around the installation area. This feature can be combined with the corresponding uniMS™ add-on module to enable network-wide monitoring of the radio quality conditions of the installed links.
